Cappiello Embarks on District - Wide Tour to Launch 2008 Congressional Campaign
Danbury, CT – State Senator David Cappiello (R-Danbury), Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District, will embark on a 41-day tour Wednesday to meet with thousands of residents at summer events in each of the district’s 41-towns.
“This is the beginning of a campaign that will truly belong to the people of the Fifth Congressional District,” said Senator Cappiello. “The purpose of 41 Towns-in-41 Days is to give the people of our district a voice in the 2008 congressional election.”
41 Towns-in-41 Days kicks-off Wednesday in Torrington, where Senator Cappiello will go door-to-door to greet residents with Mayor Ryan Bingham, visit patrons at a popular local diner, and attend the 42nd Annual Torrington RTC Family BBQ.
During the 41 Towns-in-41 Days tour, Senator Cappiello will participate in a number of popular summer events, from concerts, fairs and barbeques, to parades and town-hall meetings. The tour will be highlighted by an intense schedule of door-to-door campaigning that will bring Senator Cappiello face-to-face with thousands of Fifth District residents. A calendar of events, photo journal, and running tally of the number of people Senator Cappiello meets along the way will be available at www.davidcappiello.com.
“When I travel from town to town, I will bring a few important goals and core principles to the discussion: fiscal responsibility; more efficient government; lower taxes; the protection of our civil liberties; a cleaner environment; increased access to health care; and strong national security. But, this tour is more about listening. I want to meet as many people as possible, hear their stories, understand their struggles, and talk about their ideas for making our district and nation a better place in which to live and raise a family,” said Senator Cappiello.
